A watermill built atop the River Wensum in 1757 is now a beautiful country pub, set in the heart of the glorious Norfolk countryside. We have recently refurbished this historic building to create a haven for pub lovers and foodies. Our relaxing guest bedrooms all have soothing views of the gardens and river, making them the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Located near the Georgian market town of Fakenham, Sculthorpe Mill is surrounded by opulent farming land, and next door to the Hawk an Owl Trust – a haven for nature lover and walkers alike. For those looking for the pleasures of the beach, Sculthorpe Mill is just a stone’s throw from the stunning North Norfolk Coast. The stately homes of Sandringham, Houghton and Holkham are all within a 20 minute drive.
The Mill is now run by sisters Siobhan Peyton and Caitriona Peyton, locals who have worked their whole lives in food and drink, from the iconic Atlantic Bar and Grill, Mash micro-brewery and Peyton and Byrne Café Bakeries which they still run.
At the time of Domesday, three watermills were listed in Sculthorpe. By 1225 the mills belonged to Richard Botte and the de Hasseneye or de Hasseneia family with the latterday Sculthorpe watermill, along with ten acres of land becoming known as Hasseneia Mill.
Recently refurbished ....The interior design and landscaping is headed up by Shaun Clarkson and Paul Brewster, and furniture handmade at West Acre.....
Food Culture
Heading up the food is Elliot Ketley who is developing menus that firmly put the spotlight on local produce, from land and sea. The drink list includes local ciders, ales, craft beers and English wines.
Norfolk is home to some of the greatest produce on earth, and we are proud to work with, amongst others, the following view our suppliers.

About Perudo
Perudo is a descendent of the ancient South American game 'Dudo', more commonly known today as Liar's Dice. Played by two or more people, it is quick to play—the faster the more fun! In Perudo, players take it in turns to bid on how many dice of a certain number are under everyone's cups. They are eliminated when their bids are successfully challenged (or dudo'd) and they have no dice left. The last person standing wins.
If you haven't played before, don't worry, don't worry as we will be give a masterclass before hand, it is incredibly easy to pick up and once you play, you won't every look back.
